It’s Manuel Oliver, father and best friend of Joaquin “Guac” Oliver who was killed inside his school four years ago at Parkland by a gunman with an AR-15. I’m about to ask you for $15 to fund BAWN’s attack ad to take down Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and NRA-endorsed Republicans across the state. But first, watch BAWN’s powerful attack ad to see for yourself why elections can literally mean the difference between life or death for Florida families. Then, rush $15 to help us keep it on the air and defeat DeSantis in 15 days. >>
This email is hard to write. But it’s important you hear this:
Four years ago, my precious son Guac was gunned down at Marjory Stoneman Douglas along with 16 others.
His murderer legally purchased an AR-15 as a 19-year-old.
After the Parkland tragedy, Florida finally took some bipartisan steps to prevent gun violence – passing a law to raise the age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 years old.
But now, our Governor – who knows DAMN well what these weapons can do – admitted he would have vetoed this law that would have prevented my son’s killer from purchasing a firearm.
And DeSantis has made it clear that as long as he sits in the Governor’s Mansion, we will NEVER be able to pass an assault weapons ban.
We need voters to remember – as long as these weapons of war are sold in our communities – what happened to my family and 16 others could happen to them too.
That’s why I’m personally asking you to chip in $15 before midnight. The most important election of our lives is in just 15 days, and we need to raise 1,789 gifts before midnight to get BAWN’s critical attack ad in front of as many voters as possible to make sure DeSantis and his NRA buddies don't secure another horrible victory. Will you chip in $15 to help us throw DeSantis and gutless lawmakers across Florida out of office, elect gun safety champions, and BAN assault weapons, like the one used to murder my Guac? >>
¡Viva Guac and the 16 other victims of the Parkland shooting!
Thank you,
Manuel Oliver
