LGBTQ+ History Month is almost at a close, but we've still got great ways to connect and close it out strong.

From our new PFLAG Connects: Military Community launch--in partnership with our wonderful friends at Modern Military Association of America (MMAA)--to celebrating Ace Week, check all of this and more out in this week's edition of the PFLAG Connects newsletter!

PFLAG Connects: Military Community

We are so excited to expand our PFLAG Connects: Communities program, with the launch of PFLAG Connects: Military Community, in partnership with our friends at Modern Military Association of America. Our program provides a safe, secure, well-moderated virtual space for the military community and its diverse population, especially for service members and military spouses with LGBTQ+ children and loved ones.

Our first meeting will be held on Monday, November 14th at 9pm ET / 8pm CT / 6pm PT

If you’re part of this community and are looking for a space to speak with other military families with LGBTQ+ loved ones--or if you know of others who would benefit from this space--please visit pflagnation.al/PCMil111422 to register, or share the link widely with those you know.

Three Steps to Being an Asexual and Aromantic Ally

It’s Asexual Awareness Week, so here are some ways to be a great asexual and aromantic ally.

  1. Learn: Spend some time browsing through the resources available on the Asexuality Visibility and Education Network (AVEN)Aromantic-spectrum Union for Recognition, Education, and Advocacy (AUREA), and The Ace and Aro Advocacy Project (TAAAP) websites to learn more about asexuality and aromanticism.
  2. Watch: Check out 2021’s PFLAG Academy Online What The +?: Understanding and Supporting Expansive LGBTQ+ Identities session. Also take a look at our February 2021 Something to Talk About Live! with Angela Chen, author of "Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex."
  3. Share: Use social media to share information and resources about Ace Week, taking place from October 23rd through 29th. You can also follow Ace Week on Twitter to stay updated.

Something to Talk About...Live!

October 26th: Intersex Awareness Day

The Learning & Inclusion Team is hard at work leading training sessions for LGBTQ+ History Month for more great allies, but that doesn't mean YOUR learning needs to stop.

Join us this Thursday, October 27 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for a rerun episode of Something to Talk About Live! where we will be discussing "Anti-trans legislation will have drastic effects on intersex people & their healthcare," from LGBTQ Nation, written by Juwan J. Holmes.

As always, you can find us on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

To learn more--and to check out our discussion questions in advance--visit pflagnation.al/STTALive-102722.

Remember: We're here to help. Find us all at pflag.org/about/our-people.

Let’s stay safe, stay healthy--and stay connected.
