Hi John.
I understand hardworking Kansans are dealing with gas prices that are still too high.
I worry about how inflation impacts people like my mom. She’s retired and living on a fixed income now after serving in the Army and the Postal Service. No one should have to worry about their budget getting squeezed even more.
That’s why I’ve consistently pushed for solutions to get gas prices down – including by standing up to my own party.
My job is to serve you, no matter what. Please click here to visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts to find cheaper gas stations in your area. You may also be able to find resources for groceries, housing, health care, and much more.
I’ve voted to make America more energy independent and to get Kansans immediate relief. Please feel free to share this graphic on Facebook by clicking here and join the conversation.
I know that a lot of folks are frustrated by partisanship and political games, especially at a time of rising prices. People need solutions to the challenges they’re facing, not more extremism and division.
That’s why I have –
• Introduced a bill to suspend the federal gas tax. Despite opposition by my party’s leaders, I introduced this bill to lower the cost of gas because it’s the right thing to do for Kansans.
• Pushed the President to reopen closed oil refineries to lower prices. We have unused capacity, and we can boost the supply of gas to lower prices without sacrificing our commitment to addressing climate change.
• Voted to crack down on price gouging by Big Oil companies. No one should have to pay more just to pad the profits of huge corporations while everyone else suffers.
• Successfully pushed the President to release oil from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In coordination with other nations, more than one million barrels of oil have been released every day into the market for months to increase supply and lower prices. This has helped stabilize markets and delivered relief to people who need it.
• Voted for a new law that makes groundbreaking investments in American energy and clean energy production. It boosts American energy production in the short term to lower gas prices and reduce reliance on foreign countries. It also supports U.S. manufacturing of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and critical minerals processing. This is about making America energy independent and creating millions of good-paying jobs here at home, not China.
We need a strong, comprehensive approach to lower gas prices. When people need help, we can’t be beholden to old ideas or partisan politics.
Russia’s immoral invasion of Ukraine and backlogged supply chains around the world have driven up prices. Republicans and Democrats have to focus on concrete and bipartisan solutions to fix the problem and get people relief. Click here to watch this video about how I'm pushing for solutions.
I was raised by a single mom. I juggled multiple jobs to put myself through college and am still paying off my student loans. I understand the struggle of working hard while Washington seems out of touch.
I’ll keep doing everything that I can, regardless of party politics, to get the price of gas down. And remember, if you need any resources – including cheaper local gas stations – please visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts.
Whether we agree on every issue or not, everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party. I’m always here to serve you, no matter what.
