As we approach the New Year, like many people, I’m taking time to reflect on the past and consider the future. I can’t help but to think overwhelmingly about my two children because I know this next year will be decisive in determining what kind of America they will grow up in.
Celebrating my newborn daughter Willow’s first holiday season with my wife Rachael and son Carl, I’m immensely grateful for my beautiful family and the time we’ve gotten to spend together. But I can’t help wondering what the future holds for my children. Part of what makes me so proud to organize at CPD is knowing that I am part of the network leading the fight to build a just world for all of our children, and our work has never been more important than it is right now.
In these incredibly challenging times personally and politically, CPD gives me hope. Going into a new decade, I reflect on what we’ve accomplished together—dozens of victories improving the lives of 25 million people across the country in 2019 alone—and I feel hope for Willow and Carl. For all of us.
