Dear John,
The year is quickly drawing to a close, but the battle for America's future is far from over.
During the Sunday morning worship service at Values Voter Summit in October, I shared a sermon from the Old Testament book of Daniel, chapter 3. It's there that we see how idols in our lives and our culture become the things we value. Those values then become our identity, which in turn drives our ideology.
Do you know what the dominant idol is in our culture today?
The answer is sex.
The sexual revolution continues to drive our cultural ideology, yielding poison fruit like promiscuity, abortion, pornography (16 states have declared porn a public health crisis), and graphic sex-ed curriculum used to indoctrinate school children as young as kindergarten.
Our culture now demands that we embrace sexual identities that not only conflict with Scripture but also deny the self-evident truth of biology.
A small but loud minority in America wants you to bow down to their sexual ideology and identity. They expect you and me -- and our children and grandchildren -- to not only accept and accommodate the LGBTQ lifestyle but to affirm and celebrate it...or else!
But like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who in Daniel chapter 3 declared they would not serve or worship king Nebuchadnezzar's idols, we must also remain faithful and not bow down.
At Family Research Council, a key part of our mission is to stand for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being "thrown in the [cultural] fire" for their Christian identity.
Your generous year-end gift is vital to advance this mission. Midnight tomorrow, December 31, is our critical deadline. Will you help us end 2019 financially strong and ready to advance our values in 2020?
Take A Stand Now
When you give your most generous, tax-deductible gift, it will be doubled -- dollar for dollar -- thanks to a $1.5 Million Matching Challenge Grant.
John, we are called Christians because our identity is in Christ. We know this requires sacrifice because our authority is not popular culture, but the word of God. Jesus said in Matthew 16:24, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."
Together, let's remain rooted in Christ and faithfully commit not to bow down!
