At September's quarterly meeting, MCRGO's Board of Directors approved implementation of a Modern Rifle Clinic. This will be MCRGO's third course offering.
The course is in response to the rapidly growing interest we've seen, particularly from younger gun owners, in Modern Rifles for a variety of purposes including defensive applications. It is part of MCRGO's modernization commitment to meet the needs of Generation Z and younger Millennials. The course will be open to adults of all ages.
The MCRGO Modern Rifle (AR-15) Clinic is to teach basic knowledge, skills, and safety to properly use and maintain an AR-15 rifle. This will be a one day clinic for AR-15 owners and prospective owners.
The course format is structured like a NRA Basic Rifle Class with a focus only on the AR-15 specific platform. Its features, function, components, range exercises including magazine skills, sighting-in, ammo, and disassembly for cleaning will be taught.
Classroom instruction will include a history of the platform, AR types/styles, components and features, rifle operation, loading and unloading, breakdown and cleaning, ammunition, fundamental skills, eye dominance, aiming/breath control/hold control/trigger squeeze, follow through, and safety. Classroom time is 5.5 hours with a break for lunch followed by a 2.5 hour range portion.
Enrollment instructions will be provided as the course is launched in the coming weeks. Please contact Brady at [email protected] with any questions you may have.
