John,
With just two weeks to go until Election Day, the polls are coming fast and furious. And while the noise from the pundits can seem deafening at times, here’s one meaningful trend we’ve been noticing in Wisconsin and other key races across the country:
In one recent statewide poll, Mandela Barnes is tied at 47% with incumbent Republican Ron Johnson among registered voters. But when that same pollster narrowed the group to the voters they predicted are likely to actually vote, their margin favored Ron Johnson by 6 points.
What does this tell us? That we can win this race and other close ones like it — but only if we make sure our people come out to vote.
Right now we are on the ground, getting the word out about Mandela and mobilizing voters to head to the polls. Will you chip $4 in right now and help us reach more voters in Wisconsin and across the country?
The truth is that predicting "likely voters" is harder than ever for pollsters. They’re trying to make turnout predictions based on things like enthusiasm and past voting history, while also accounting for the fact that less than 1 in 100 people will pick up their phone calls.
But results like this one — with a wide disparity between registered and likely voters — also show that victory is well within our reach.
When voters learn that Ron Johnson co-sponsored 8 national abortion bans, or that winning this Senate seat for Mandela could pave the way to ending the filibuster and winning more victories for working people — we’re confident that they won’t leave it up to chance.
Help us close the gap and mobilize voters in Wisconsin and across the country to cast their ballots from now through Election Day:
