Hey John, I like to pride myself on being a big-picture thinker. Right now, so much attention is given to individual high-profile races in the 2022 midterms, and it’s easy to lose sight of the big-picture view of what the new Congress will be after November 8th. John, the major question on my mind is which party will be in power for the upcoming years. Democrats currently hold a slim majority in the House and Senate, but that could all change. And let me tell you – it’s a pretty grim outlook if Republicans flip a few seats.
Remember Marjorie Taylor Greene, the far-right Congresswoman/conspiracy theorist/insurrectionist? Without a Democratic majority, she’ll likely gain significant power in the next Congress according to the AJC. The Democratic leadership had previously stripped her of all committee assignments, but she’d have a clear path to push her racist and extremist agenda on the direction of the country. It’s scary to think about, but it’s the reality we face. All we can do now is push as hard as we can to put the right folks in office on Election Day. Can you rush a donation to my campaign so I can keep doing the vital work of getting Georgia Democrats out to vote?
As CNN described recently, a narrow Republican majority would mean that their leadership would have to make nice with even their most extreme far-right members such as MTG. You would hope they’d recognize that she’s unfit for any public responsibility, but sadly it seems that Republicans will cozy up with anyone. Let’s put in the work now to avoid this becoming a reality. If you can chip in to my re-election campaign, I’ll fight tirelessly to keep building Democratic power in Georgia and beyond.
