Hi John -- We've got news to share!
CCDS Honors
UFE
“UFE has supported the Center for
Cooperative Development and Solidarity (CCDS) in different ways,
especially by strengthening the skills of our team in popular
education, a tool that is key in the cooperative and solidarity
economy work CCDS does with the immigrant community, mostly Latino, in
East Boston.” -Catalina, Liliana and Luz, CCDS Staff
At CCDS's end of year celebration, United for a Fair Economy was
recognized with a certificate for our continued support of CCDS since
the project’s inception three years ago. CCDS is a Massachusetts-based
community working to create a more fair economy by creating space for
grassroots organizers in working class communities of color.
80 Ways to Make
Your Presentation More Effective
There are so many ways to turn your "audience" into active
participants. If we want people to take action to end inequality we
can't afford to use the same top-down learning methods over and over.
We want people to leave feeling that they have the solution and the
means to implement it.
We know from experience that learners are more likely to
understand, retain, and apply knowledge if they are engaging their
heads, hearts, and hands. Well, here's a new tool for just that! We
call it “80 Methods of Teaching and Learning.” It contains 25 creative
methods of conveying a topic and 55 dynamic methods to engage
participants around that topic.
Advanced Training
of Trainers
At our three-day intensive Training of Trainers held at the
Highlander Center in October, participants learned about the role of
popular education in movement building and gained tools they can use
as educators, organizers and activists in their communities to analyze
the roots of our current crisis, heal themselves and others, and take
action for profound change. Among these participants were individual
organizers from around the nation looking to strengthen their skills
and members of various grassroots social change organizations,
including The Center for Cooperative Development and Solidarity
(CCDS).
Catch up with our
director, Jeannette Huezo!
UFE’s Executive Director and Senior Popular Educator, Jeannette
Huezo, made several appearances on panels and podcasts in 2019. Back
in May, she was featured on a Labor Panel at Lowell National
Historical Park, and that same month she spoke on a panel about fair
wages in Philadelphia.

reflection by our National Education Director, Riahl O'Malley: When
Facilitating Silence Isn't Awkward, It's Essential.
