This Week at the NYGOP

Dear Friend,

Are you energized and fired up? I AM--because New York Republicans are on the precipice of historic victories that we haven't seen in 20 years!

Our GOP nominee for Governor Lee Zeldin is surging and polling now shows that he is taken the lead against Kathy Hochul. The RED WAVE is real and building stronger every day.

While Democrats are running dishonest smear campaigns on abortion and Trump to try and distract from their disastrous record, our Republican candidates are talking about how we are going to rein in inflation, restore public safety, and clean up corruption. We are putting forth solutions to make Americans' lives better and that's why independent voters are flocking to our Republican candidates in record numbers.

That's the good news. But we can't sit back--we have to work harder than ever before to keep our momentum going strong. Democrats know they are in trouble and they will do everything they can to cling to power.

They have shown that they will repeatedly break the law to try and rig the election in their favor. But on Friday, we just won another big victory in the courts to stop their illegal changes to absentee ballots and canvassing operations. We stopped their unconstitutional Hochulmander and giving citizens the right to vote, and now we've stopped them from their mail-in ballot scheme that tried to subvert the will of the people.

We have shown that when we take the fight to them and use every legal tool in our disposal, we can win. We need to keep up this fighting spirit every minute of every day until the polls close on November 8th.

Everything is on the line with this election. This is our last chance to save our state and victory is in sight if we do what's necessary to win. Early vote starts on Saturday and Tuesday marks just 2 weeks until Election Day. Please take a few moments of each day to call or send an email to friends or post something on your social media. This is a grassroots effort of New Yorkers who are ready to take our state back.

Senator Sue Serino started working at age 15 and never stopped. She learned early on the value of being able to capitalize on her incredible work ethic and that understanding has served to shape her entire adult life. Sue began as a waitress in a small, local restaurant, quickly working her way up to become a manager. After the birth of her son Anthony, she opened her first successful business as a childcare provider. The daughter of a hardworking immigrant, Sue was taught that homeownership was a critical component of achieving the “American Dream.” Hoping to make that dream a reality for her neighbors in the community, Sue took an interest in the real estate industry. She began working in the industry in 1996 and opened her own office in the City of Poughkeepsie shortly thereafter. In 2003, she moved her office to Hyde Park to accommodate her growing team of 26 sales associates.

As a small business owner, Sue has had to deal with the harsh realities of doing business in New York. Like so many New Yorkers, she was frustrated with high taxes and bureaucratic red tape that always seemed to stand in the way of real progress. It was that frustration that drove her determination to make a difference in her local communities. Sue was elected to the Hyde Park Town Board in 2010 and then to the Dutchess County Legislature in 2011. As a county legislator, she was a vocal advocate for hardworking taxpayers and consistently resisted efforts to raise taxes and fees at the local level. Sue firmly believes that like so many hardworking families in our communities, our government needs to learn to do more with less and needs to prioritize measures that will directly benefit our local communities.

Having spent her life in Dutchess, Sue cares deeply about ensuring our communities remain places where our young people can afford to start their lives and our seniors can afford to stay and enjoy the lives that they worked so hard to build. Residents of the 41st District should know that Sue will fight tirelessly in Albany to achieve that goal.

Hochul’s ‘hot mess’ campaign has NY Dems worried as Republican Zeldin surges

State Democrats are panicking as Gov. Kathy Hochul appears to be blowing the race against Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin in solidly blue New York amid worsening polls, fundraising scandals and campaign messaging misfires. They also worry about her campaign’s refusal to focus on concerns that New Yorkers care the most about, like crime and the economy, heading to the Nov. 8 election. “You’re saying, ‘Abortion, abortion, abortion.’ That is going to leave a bad taste,” a Democratic insider told The Post. “It’s the economy, stupid,” the source emphasized, borrowing the famous tagline fed to then-candidate Bill Clinton by campaign strategist James Carville in his 1992 upset of incumbent President George H.W. Bush. Yet key supporters say Hochul is still locking herself in a “bunker” amid a barrage of attacks from Zeldin over rising crime, inflation and alleged pay-to-play with campaign donors. “Her campaign seems like a hot mess on the best of days. All they know how to do is use people like ATMs,” another party ally said.

How bad is one-party progressive rule in New York? Bad enough that it’s becoming conceivable that a disaffected Democratic electorate might rebel on Nov. 8 by picking a Republican for Governor. With three weeks to go, the GOP’s Lee Zeldin trails incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul by a mere 6.2 points in one polling average. New York is among the nation’s most Democratic states, and President Biden took 60% of the vote in 2020. The fact that Mr. Zeldin appears competitive is a sign of frustration with Democratic policy excesses and their demonstrable damage to the city and state.

New York governor race between Gov. Hochul and Rep. Zeldin tightens to 'toss up'

The New York gubernatorial race between incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul and GOP challenger Lee Zeldin is now a "toss-up," according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. The polling outlet’s rolling average of polls from Sept. 30 to Oct. 12 shows that Hochul is leading the Republican congressman by 5.3% with 7% of voters undecided on who they will vote for. "We have just 24 days to go until we FIRE @KathyHochul & save our state. It’s not too late for Hochul to come out of hiding & do multiple debates with me across New York, starting immediately!" Zeldin said in a Twitter post, along with a graphic showing the race moving from "lean Democrat" to "toss up." The shift in polls amounts to a significant comeback for Zeldin, who was down in the polls as much as 24 points in August.

Lee Zeldin has real shot to defeat Kathy Hochul in modern David vs. Goliath showdown

In politics, as in sports, underdogs are often the most interesting people. Modest except in ambition, they take nothing for granted while daring to dream that anything is possible.

Lee Zeldin is one of those people. Until recently, he was relatively unknown outside his Long Island congressional district, but he’s now on the cusp of playing David to Gov. Hochul’s Goliath. A series of surveys in recent weeks has showed the race tightening, and a big jolt came Tuesday when the Quinnipiac poll put him behind by just four points.

Now there can be no doubt — the race is a toss-up. It’s a stunning development in a state where registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans by 2-1 and no GOP candidate has won a statewide race in two decades. But independents favor Zeldin by 20 points, the poll finds, and it shows him getting 37% support in the city, double what recent GOP statewide candidates got. As he and others have noted, a Republican has no chance of winning the state with less than 30% in the five boroughs.

Give Lee Zeldin a Chance to Bail Out New York

Democrats have run the New York state assembly since 1975, every statewide executive office since 2007, a majority of the state’s highest court since 2015, and the state senate since 2019. New Yorkers have a great many reasons to be dissatisfied with how their state has been governed under one-party Democratic rule. Governor Kathy Hochul, who took over from Andrew Cuomo in August 2021, has done nothing to deserve their votes in her bid for reelection. Judging by the fact that her campaign is almost entirely negative and avoids discussion of her record, we suspect that she knows this. To start with, the perennial ethical morass in Albany has only gotten worse as the Democrats have consolidated their power. “Resigned in disgrace” has become such a common ending for careers in state politics that one could be forgiven for thinking that disgrace was actually a suburb of the capital. Two of Hochul’s three predecessors (Cuomo and Eliot Spitzer) had to step down mid-term, and Spitzer’s successor, David Paterson, abandoned his bid for an elected term and paid a $62,000 ethics fine to avoid prosecution for perjury. State attorney general Eric Schneiderman preceded Cuomo in resigning in 2018 due to his abuse of women. State comptroller Alan Hevesi quit a month after his 2006 reelection and went to prison. So did Sheldon Silver, who was speaker of the state assembly for 21 years until he was arrested in 2015.
