Many years ago, while waiting for a bus on Hayes Street in San Francisco, I overheard a quick exchange:
A man at the bus stop spotted a friend across the street and called out, “How’s it going?”
Without missing a beat, the other man replied, “If things don’t start picking up, I’m gonna have to start picking up things.”
I find myself recalling that exchange this time each year, as my staff and I wait to see if enough donations will come in or if we might have to make some difficult choices about the work we can — and can’t — do in the year ahead.
At this moment:
- We’re nowhere near earning the full $250,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds.
- We’re getting down to the wire — the dollar-for-dollar match expires in two days.
Please donate right now.
Any amount you can give — $5, $25, $100 or even more — will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
Thank you!
