Throughout this campaign, I’ve spent hours listening to the concerns and priorities of Veterans.
Time and again, the Veterans I’ve met have made it clear what they think of Derrick Van Orden: a demagogue, unfit for public service.
As more horrific details emerge about the vicious January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, we can see my opponent’s participation in those events was treasonous. Plain and simple.
The latest House Committee hearing on January 6 was disturbing.
The treacherous plotting by the former president and his accomplices to overturn the election results and ignore the people’s will should be profoundly offensive and troubling to all of us who love our democracy.
But my opponent refuses to apologize for his participation. He brags about his service as a Navy Seal but, on January 6, actively sought to undermine the very democracy he swore to defend.
No wonder Wisconsin Veterans believe Van Orden’s actions on January 6 were disqualifying.
We cannot allow someone like that to represent the Third District in Congress, where he will continue disrespecting our democracy and nation. Van Orden’s unAmerican actions and beliefs do not reflect the values of our district.
That’s why I’m running, team. In Congress, I will fight to expand benefits for our Veterans. And I will also work to strengthen our democracy and protect it from insurrectionists like Van Orden.
