I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to all who have been affected by the tragic plane crash in Keene last night. Thank you to the first responders from Keene and the surrounding area who helped those on the scene.

I hope you had a wonderful week and have an opportunity to spend some time outdoors this weekend. I’m excited to announce that my annual Fall Photo Contest is now open, and my office is accepting submissions through Monday, October 31st at 11:59 PM.

This past Sunday, I joined the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation in announcing $500,000 in federal funds through the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Community Oriented Policing (COPS) hiring grant program. 

Ensuring New Hampshire police departments have the resources to hire and retain the personnel they need has been a top priority of mine. These crucial federal funds will help local police departments hire additional officers and strengthen public safety. I’m glad to see this funding headed to our state, and I will continue working to support our law enforcement community.

I joined a discussion on clean energy with Dartmouth students at the Irving Institute.

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to sit down with Dartmouth students at the Irving Institute to discuss how we can deliver on the clean energy economy of the future. Innovative technology and investments to achieve energy independence will strengthen our economic competitiveness and lower costs.

As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Energy Subcommittee, I’m proud to be at the forefront of shaping clean energy policies to prevent the worst effects of climate change while lowering costs for Granite Staters.

Our nation’s veterans have gone above and beyond in service to our country and we must ensure they have the support and resources they need. It was wonderful to meet with residents and staff at Harbor Care in Nashua yesterday. I’m grateful for their service and proud to support their work to provide essential services including health care, housing, and more to Granite Staters in need.

On Wednesday, I led the New England Congressional Delegation in calling on President Biden to release stockpiles from the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve (NEHHOR) to help lower home heating costs for New Hampshire households. As we head into the cold fall and winter months, ensuring Granite State families have the resources they need to keep their homes safe and warm is crucial.

Last month, I secured an additional $1 billion in emergency funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). I will continue working to lower costs for New Hampshire.

One of my most important jobs as your representative is helping Granite Staters.

Hearing aids are now available over the counter without a prescription or exam. This could save Granite Staters thousands of dollars and will remove financial barriers to getting hearing aids.

The IRS recently announced they will be sending letters to over 9 million Americans who did not claim their stimulus payments, Child Tax Credit, or other tax credits they might be eligible for. In order to ensure that eligible people – especially families – can claim the tax credits they are eligible for, Free File will remain open until November 17.
