Ballots from registered Democrats are being returned at a slower rate than we expected.
John, in these final two weeks before the election, we’re keeping a close eye on the numbers.
- Ballots from registered Democrats are being returned at a slower rate than we expected. We must turnout the vast majority of Democrats in the district if we’re going to win.
- Polling has Democrats across the country down, with a recent New York Times poll finding 49 percent of likely voters plan to vote Republican, while just 45 percent plan to vote Democrat.
- The numbers that makeup our district haven’t changed. A third of voters are registered Democrats, a third are registered Republicans, and a third are independent voters.
The Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman just said “Katie Porter..may be in trouble.”
It’s pretty clear: This is my toughest race yet and midterm elections tend to be tougher for a president’s party–and this year is no exception. Ballots are already being returned so there’s no time to waste. Your donations help us reach voters through ads, door-knocking, and community events. Pitch in today.

BTW: California voters, turn in your ballot sooner rather than later! Get more information about voting and how to return your ballot here.
Katie is running for re-election in California’s 47th district, which includes Irvine and coastal Orange County. This purple district contains an equal number of Democrats and Republicans and is a must-win for Democrats. Consider pitching in today so we have the resources to keep Katie in Congress fighting for working people.
