A powerful amount of progress is being made thanks to you.

Dear Friend,

We know we’ve been in your inbox quite a bit recently and we don’t take that lightly.

Our team here at the National Center on Sexual Exploitation values your time and work greatly, and that’s why we work hard to make sure that your generous donations are put to the best use in the fight to end sexual exploitation in all its forms.

In 2019, the NCOSE team has seen huge victories pour in as a result of that hard work and generosity and we wanted to give you a little rundown of some of those achievements so you can feel great about donating toward our $3 MILLION MATCHING GIFT OPPORTUNITY ([link removed]) right now.

Looking back on this year, we at NCOSE are especially proud of the achievements gained with Instagram ([link removed]), Snapchat ([link removed]), Netflix ([link removed]), and Comcast ([link removed]). Our dialogue with these corporate giants continues. Much progress has already been achieved and they are still listening and improving! We’ve made your voices heard and they are making changes.

Not resting on these victories, NCOSE hosted the Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation Global Summit ([link removed]) in June. Coupled with our second annual Day on the Hill ([link removed]), which unleashed an army of advocates on Capitol Hill, the momentum we have is palpable. We’ve heard from attendees who returned to their communities energized and inspired to continue confronting sexual abuse and exploitation issues.

NCOSE’s Day on the Hill also set the stage for the role out of the #FixAppRatings campaign ([link removed]). In partnership with key allies, NCOSE worked with members of Congress to instigate a Senate hearing ([link removed]). Before a packed hearing room, social media giants were taken to task for their failure to protect children from exposure to explicit and harmful content on Internet platforms. As we move into 2020, NCOSE will keep the pressure on Congress and Big Tech to #FixAppRatings and protect our children.

What is more, the NCOSE Law Center is ramping up major new initiatives ([link removed]). In January 2019, we hired Benjamin Bull, a man with an inspiring career and prestigious legacy in the fight against obscenity. Ben and our expanding legal team are hard at work on new model laws and laying the ground work to defend FOSTA-SESTA—critical legislation curbing online sex trafficking ([link removed]) that NCOSE helped pass—in federal court.

Yes, the tasks before us are daunting and the challenges formidable. But, as the saying goes, “Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” As disheartening as the challenges may appear at times, this work is meaningful and successes swell our collective hearts with endurance.

Thank you for making the journey with us—we couldn’t do this work without you.

Sincerely,

Dawn Hawkins

Senior Vice President and Executive Director
