John,
Control of the House majority could come down to our race here in Pennsylvania's 8th District, and if Republicans retake control of the House majority this November, Social Security and Medicare will be on the chopping block.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's extreme agenda includes making cuts to Social Security and Medicare – and Republicans even recently threatened to shut down the government if they reclaim the House in order to make it happen.
My opponent, Jim Bognet spent the past two decades working for Republican candidates who wanted to cut Social Security. If he flips this seat red, he'll vote to cut these critical programs. We can't let that happen.
Will you chip in $10 or more right away to help me defeat Jim Bognet so I can fight to protect our earned benefits?
I know how critical Social Security and Medicare have been in allowing hard-working Northeastern Pennsylvanians to live and retire with dignity. That's why strengthening these programs has always been a top priority of mine.
I was proud to introduce Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust in the House last year to boost benefits and strengthen the trust fund. And I'll always fight back against any attempt to gut these programs – but I need your help to win this "toss-up" race.
Chip in right away to help keep me in Congress fighting to strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
Thanks,
Matt
