Good morning, team.
Here’s a fun fact you may not know about me: I was born at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford -- right here in Illinois’ 17th District.
Call me old-fashioned, but I think it’s important that we elect a representative who has called this district home for *at least* the majority of their lifetime.
As someone running to represent my hometown, I’m definitely doing so with a heightened sense of duty. That’s what decades of building relationships and absorbing local values will do to you, and it’s why I always felt a deep sense of responsibility as a meteorologist -- helping my community understand the risks and make well-informed decisions.
My opponent Esther King only moved to Western Illinois because she thought her chances of being elected were better here than in Chicago. She’s not a homegrown candidate. In my humble opinion, she hasn’t earned the trust of IL-17 residents.
But here's the deal: My opponent has a near endless supply of funds propping her up thanks to Kevin McCarthy's super PAC. They believe that with just enough resources, they can pull it off.
We're doing things differently. This campaign is funded by over 12,000 donors -- including donors from every county in this district. That's by design, friend. We need to send a message that this seat should go to someone who will fight for us -- not Kevin McCarthy.
We still need support to make sure our voices aren't drowned out by the super PACs attacking us. If you can, please chip in $5 to keep our momentum going. Let’s elect someone focused on securing a better future for working families in Illinois and everywhere else.
This race could swing either way in the final weeks – and the more grassroots support we can muster, the better our chances of victory on November 8th.
Thank you for your continuing support,
-Eric
