Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, I hope you are doing well. As the October District Work Period continues, I want to share a few updates that you may have missed. FDA Hearing Aid Rule Takes Effect As of this week, hearing aids are officially available over the counter for the millions of Americans who need them. I previously announced the news of the FDA's final rule to make hearing aids available over the counter back in August. Estimates from the White House predict this will result in a savings of nearly $3,000 for every purchase. I have been a proud supporter of bringing down the cost of hearing aids--in my first year in Congress, I introduced legislation to provide coverage for hearing aids and services for seniors under Medicare Part B. With the FDA's final rule taking effect this week, we celebrate a major victory in our work to make health care more affordable and accessible. City of Brookhaven to Receive $750,000 Grant This week, I was proud to help share the news that the City of Brookhaven Police Department will be one of four recipients in Georgia of a Department of Justice grant to hire and retain 6 new police officers. Brookhaven is a national leader in community policing, and I was honored to support their grant application.
