Hi there,
Pete and I were told over and over again to wait our turn. At the beginning of this decade, people told Pete that he shouldn’t run for mayor of our hometown -- he should seek a different office and build up his name. But the problems facing South Bend eight years ago were too urgent to ignore. Pete ran and won and changed the trajectory of our city and its people.
Today we’re launching a $750,000 goal to hit before midnight Tuesday to help us build the campaign we need to win in 2020. If you believe that our country is at a make-or-break moment, and if you believe Pete is the leader to help us pick up the pieces after Donald Trump, please make a donation today before our big end-of-year deadline.

Pete and I have known each other for over 20 years. And when you’ve known someone for that long, you get a good sense of their character. I believe Pete is the leader we need to help our country pick up the pieces after the Trump presidency.
We’re also not exactly the pair you’d expect to see leading a presidential campaign. I always say that there are two folks at the top of this campaign who don’t come from recent presidential campaigns, and that’s me and Pete.
Pete isn’t a traditional candidate, I’m not a traditional campaign manager, and, of course, this isn’t a traditional campaign. Because the crises our country is facing today demand non-traditional solutions.
Here’s the thing about Pete: He’s the kind of person who makes everyone around him better. I’ve watched it for the past twenty years: he’s made me better, he’s made our hometown better, and he’s made every team he’s ever had better. And that’s how I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that he’ll make our country better, too.
But Pete and I, we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’ve hired a staff of the brightest, most innovative people in politics. It’s why we’ve assembled a team of passionate, dedicated grassroots donors, volunteers, and supporters who have built this campaign from the ground up.
We need you -- every single one of you -- to step up when you can, chip in what you can, and commit every day to being an integral part of this movement. Now, we have a big goal on the horizon: $750,000 donations before the end of 2019.
And that’s why I’m calling on you to make a contribution today, with less than three days left in this year. If you believe in Pete, non-traditional as he is, and in this campaign, non-traditional as it is, chip in whatever you can now, and help us hit our $750,000 goal by midnight Tuesday.
