Hindisa Awale Kadiye, living in the Horn of Africa. Food is tight – with parents skipping meals so that children can eat.
Friend –
The Horn of Africa is on the verge of disaster. Devastating drought is gripping the region – over 15 million people require humanitarian assistance and more than 5 million people have already been displaced from Somalia, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
Livestock is essential to survival for many people in the region, providing not just employment and food, but also playing a central part in culture and life. The drought has put all of that at risk – no rain means no pastures, which means animals cannot survive, leaving entire communities in destitution.
We can't turn our backs on these families in the Horn of Africa who desperately need more support – immediately, to survive the drought, and long-term, to build systems to help protect against the effects of climate disaster. We're responding as quickly as possible, but our resources are stretched thin and we need your help.
We've set a goal to raise $3 million by midnight on 12/31, so we can keep up our work in the Horn of Africa and across the globe – will you join us?

With the impacts of the climate change crisis already being felt by people across the world, poor communities need more resources to survive disasters and plan for the future. As extreme weather occurrences like these strike more often and more forcefully, families have less time to rebuild and recover.
But you can help, friend. When you make a gift to Oxfam, you're supporting our work with our partners in the Horn of Africa and providing the life-saving assistance of clean water and cash, so families can survive this crisis.
You're helping lessen the impact of extreme weather disasters with long-term solutions, too, like building solar-powered desalination plants to make ground water drinkable and distributing water filters to help families stay safe when treated water is not available.
The climate change crisis can feel impossible to address. But with a gift to Oxfam, you're providing tangible solutions that help those most impacted – in the Horn of Africa and more than 90 countries around the world. Thanks to you, we can help people build their resiliency to the impacts of the climate change crisis – today and every day.
Communities can survive in the face of the challenges exacerbated by the climate change crisis. But it won't happen without you. Donate now and help raise $3 million by midnight on 12/31 >>
Thank you for joining us.
Sincerely,
