Dear John,
I’m not going to sugarcoat this: I see a lot of Democrats taking our ability to keep a Democratic House majority for granted. That is a huge mistake.
And if we lose seats like mine, we will lose the house. That means we would no longer be able to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act or the Freedom to Vote Act.
Right now, we’re way behind the grassroots donation benchmarks we need to hit to stay on track to defend this seat in November. So I’m asking: will you split a contribution of $25 between my campaign and the Democratic Party of Georgia?

Even though FiveThirtyEight has named my House seat the most competitive in Georgia, and the DCCC has put me on their Frontline list, Republicans can see the lack of urgency around races like mine, and they smell blood in the water.
The NRCC is running attack ads against me; they gerrymandered my seat; they passed a shameful voter suppression bill in Georgia to prevent Democrats from getting to the polls; and they’re planning to pour more dark money than ever before into Georgia.
Their plan is to kill federal voting rights legislation by flipping a handful of seats like mine while no one is looking. After all, Republicans only need to flip 5 House seats to retake the majority.
We can’t let their plan work.
That’s why I’m asking for your help: we’re behind on reaching our fundraising goal. Can you split a contribution of $25 between me and the Democratic Party of Georgia to get us back on track?

Thank you,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
