John,

In less than three weeks, leaders from around the world will come together for COP27 -- the UN's annual climate conference -- in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

In less than 60 seconds, you can learn who's expected to attend COP27, the significance of holding the gathering in Egypt, and how this year's COP is different from last year's.

Check out our short video, "What is COP27? In Under a Minute," where Ailun Yang from our Environment team covers the basics of COP27.

Since last November's COP26 in Glasgow, the calls for urgent climate action have grown, as catastrophic and costly climate disasters struck communities from Florida to Pakistan.

At the same time, we've also seen unprecedented climate progress -- including historic investments in the United States.

In Sharm El-Sheikh, global leaders will have an opportunity to reassess the ambitions set out in COP26, and turn commitments into meaningful climate action.
