DALLAS, TX – I introduced legislation today to empower pregnant mothers considering adoption with healthcare options. The Caring for Mothers Act will allow parents who are adopting a newborn child to put the pregnant mother onto the adopting parents' health insurance during the time of the pregnancy and one year postpartum. The Caring for Mothers Act would not only give countless newborns the right to life, but it would empower mothers with the care and support they deserve during their pregnancy. I am proud to introduce this lifesaving legislation and hope my colleagues can see across party lines to support mothers and protect America's most vulnerable lives. I also joined Republican Whip Steve Scalise on a letter to President Biden demanding an immediate halt to his war on American energy by issuing a robust offshore energy leasing plan. Americans are suffering from high gas prices. That’s why we are requesting the President work with us to immediately unleash American energy. You can read the full letter here. Earlier this year, I introduced legislation that would provide the certainty necessary for continued investment in offshore production.
