Dear John,

Everyone deserves clean air, and dairy factory farms must be held accountable for their air pollution. That's why we’re working with our partner groups in the Stand Up to Factory Farms coalition, which filed a petition urging the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to regulate air emissions from large dairy factory farms in Oregon. Will you stand up to Big Ag and send a message to the DEQ urging them to regulate dairy farm emissions and in turn, reduce air pollution in Oregon? [[link removed]]

Large dairy factory farms pollute our air, warm our climate, and threaten our health. Have you ever driven past a dairy farm and wrinkled your nose in disgust at the foul smell that lingers in the air around these farms? That’s because they’re fueling climate change by emitting huge amounts of methane and damaging the air quality for communities surrounding these farms. These farms also produce toxic air pollutants like ammonia that can cause chronic respiratory issues and even death.

The Department of Environmental Quality is currently accepting public comment on this petition to manage emissions from large dairy factory farms. The deadline for comments on October 23rd at 4:00 PM is quickly approaching, so we need to put pressure on the DEQ to approve it! We’ve made it quick and easy for you with pre-written email language that you can send to the DEQ using this link. [[link removed]]

If this pollution continues to go unregulated, the health of our communities and our environment will suffer. The state should stop putting our air quality, climate, and rural communities at risk by failing to regulate air pollution from Oregon dairy producers.

We need everybody to make their voices heard and let the DEQ know that we won’t stand for harm to our communities at the hands of Big Ag. With the deadline so close, we know that this is an urgent and last-minute ask, so please submit a public comment asking regulators to protect our air from dirty factory farm pollution before time runs out at 4:00 PM on Sunday!
