Hi John.
I was raised by a single mom who served in the Army and the Postal Service. I juggled multiple jobs to put myself through college and am still paying off my student loans. I understand the struggle of working hard while Washington seems out of touch.
I’m serving in the House to bring a new generation of leadership to Washington. So, it’s especially concerning to me when public officials appear to use their privilege for personal gain.
That’s why I stood up to my own party to stop congressional pay raises and insider stock trading in Congress.

I know a lot of Kansans are frustrated by partisanship and political games. That goes for both sides of the aisle, which is why it’s important to stand up when I disagree with my own party.
I’ve made it a top priority to fight corruption and extremism across the political spectrum.
That’s why I’m supporting the bipartisan TRUST in Congress Act to require all members of Congress and their immediate family members to place stocks and other investments in blind trusts. This way, members of Congress can’t abuse the system for personal gain.
And I stood up to my party’s leaders and successfully stopped pay raises for members of Congress. At a time of rising prices, the last people who should get a raise are members of Congress.
I’ve also fought to strengthen ethics rules for members of Congress and to roll back the dominance of big money in our politics. We can’t let secret special interests and billionaires dominate our elections and set the agenda.
My job is to serve every person, and every corner, of our community to the best of my ability. Whether we agree on every issue or not is besides the point.
Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not a government that works just for special interests and big corporations. I’m always here for you, regardless of party.
