And Republicans have done nothing to stop another school shooting.

Friend,

I remember watching in horror when 20 children and 6 adults were killed at Sandy Hook in 2012.

Then again, in 2018, I was shaken to my core when 14 students and 3 teachers were slaughtered in the Parkland school shooting.

Just a few short months later, 8 students and 2 teachers were killed in Santa Fe -- only a few hours from my home.

Each time I watched as communities grieved and families processed a suffering they should have never had to face. Each time I watched how the NRA pulled the strings and lined the pockets of our elected “leaders.” Each time I watched as Republican officials fought harder to keep their donors happy than to keep their communities safe.

But on May 24th, a sick 18 year old who should have never had access to a weapon of war slaughtered 19 children and 2 teachers in Uvalde. And I learned that no amount of watching tragedies like these unfold can prepare you for the devastation of a preventable, gut-wrenching massacre hitting your own community.

I pray that you’ll just have to take my word on that.

Time and time again Republicans have failed us at every level of government. They make us feel like extremists just for wanting safety for ourselves, our kids, and our community. But Friend, prioritizing NRA donors over children’s lives is what's extreme.

It’s been 150 days, and Texas Republicans have done nothing. But we have the power to decide if we’ll go another 150 days -- or longer -- without action.

We can’t forget that WE can hold them accountable for their failure to act -- not once, but TWICE -- in the wake of a Texas school massacre. We can hold them accountable at the ballot box.

When I look into the eyes of our community’s children and the people I love, I want to be able to truthfully say I’m doing everything I can to ensure this tragedy was the last. I know you do too.

That’s why Texas Democrats are going all in to elect leaders who have pledged to do whatever it takes to keep our kids safe. Will you pledge a $7 contribution, so we can say we left no stone unturned to get Democrats elected up and down the ballot?

Friend, this election is about more than winning. It’s about keeping our kids alive.

I’m with you,

Juan Jesus Moreno
Regional Political Manager, Texas Democratic Party
