As Canada prepares to enter a new decade, there are incredible opportunities and challenges ahead of us
Friend, it is our great privilege to live in a fair and kind nation like Canada.
But throughout my time in politics and public life, I’ve seen that our progress can never be taken for granted, and that our hard work to build a better future is never done.
As Canada prepares to enter a new decade, there are incredible opportunities and challenges ahead of us – and I am incredibly hopeful about our Liberal team’s work to keep Canada moving forward. In 2020, Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team will be stepping up our work to invest in the middle class and create good new jobs, to advance reconciliation and the rights of Indigenous peoples, and to rise to the urgent imperative of fighting climate change and protecting a clean environment.
On priorities like these and so many more, we’re already seeing important results: Canada’s economy is strong and growing, more than 900,000 Canadians have been able to lift themselves out of poverty, unemployment is at a record low, and we’re on track to have the second-fastest growing economy in the G7 this year.
As Liberals and as Canadians, we can lead in these areas – and there’s much more to do. Together, we can ensure that Canada’s decade ahead is one of prosperity, justice, fairness, and opportunity.
The beginning of a new decade marks a time for thoughtful consideration of what’s to come for our country, but it’s also a time for action.
