Friend,
As 2019 is coming to an end, we have hope that this was the year the world finally woke up to the climate emergency:
- Greta Thunberg led hundreds of thousands of school children in weekly 'Fridays for Future' school strikes;
- The young activists from the Sunshine Movement teamed up with AOC and 'The Squad' to galvanize a movement for a Green New Deal that gets us to 100% renewable energy ASAP;
- The Extinction Rebellion movement embarked on a campaign of peaceful civil disobedience that spread worldwide;
- Millions of people brought city centers to a standstill around the world—dragging the climate emergency into the mainstream.
It's issue #1 for our staff and our readers. Incredibly, in 2019 our news team produced over 2,000 articles on the climate emergency and the people-powered actions fighting for our future.
We want to be here to cover the battle in 2020 and beyond. But we still must raise $42,000 by Tuesday at midnight to make our Year-End goal.
Will you help us? Please make a tax-deductible, year-end contribution now.
In renewed hope,
Andrea Germanos Senior Editor for the whole Common Dreams news team
P.S. Your year-end donation will be matched by a generous donor.
