John - I’ve watched Democrats and Republicans fight for two vastly different Americas these last few years.

While Democrats have been focusing on expanding the right to vote through landmark legislation, Republicans have been trying to limit it. And to this day, many Republicans have even refused to accept the results of the 2020 election and are still parroting conspiracy theories.

This dangerous rhetoric has dire consequences for our democracy and the peaceful transfer of power. We all saw the images of the Capitol being stormed on Jan. 6, which will be forever ingrained in our collective memory.

But even after all of this, Trump-style Republicans continue to embrace the big lie: from Arizona to Michigan, extremist election deniers are vying to become the top election officials who will oversee election laws and make decisions about when, where, and how folks vote. 

They’d even have power over certifying the 2024 election results. And many of these election deniers have even promised to do everything in their means to make sure Donald Trump wins should he run again. It’s horrifying. 

It’s why I’m reaching out. It’s more important than ever that we elect Democratic Secretaries of State this November who will defend access to the ballot and fend off attacks on our democratic process.
