My name is Sydney Throop and I was the campaign’s first staff member in Iowa. I’m the deputy organizing director and have been on the ground in the Hawkeye State for almost a year -- a truly astonishing year.

A year ago, we were a total underdog campaign. Not many folks in Iowa even knew who Pete was. (“It’s Boot-Edge-Edge,” I’d explain.) We didn’t have a big email list or donor network to tap into. We didn’t know if we’d hit the 65,000 donations needed to get invited to the first DNC debate. We didn’t know if Pete’s message of unity would resonate.

But slowly, people got the hang of “Buttigieg.” (After a bit of practice, it starts to roll right off the tongue, doesn’t it?!) We made that first debate stage (and the five that followed, too), and Iowans in every county have found hope in Pete’s message and a sense of belonging in this campaign.

Our volunteers -- you -- show up every day with a sense of energy and urgency that I don’t see anywhere else. I am filled with hope and excitement for our future.

But our teams across the country know we have a lot of work to do. In Iowa, we have just 36 days until the caucus. This is the most important couple of weeks that we have. Caucusgoers here in Iowa and voters across the country are making up their minds and choosing a candidate. We cannot stop working and we need your help.

This year has been filled with special moments: from the CNN Town Hall to the first debate stage, from the Iowa State Fair to the famous “LJ” dinner -- Pete always shows up prepared, ready, and presidential. And now I’d really like your help showing up for him.
