Earlier this week, Jeremy Shaffer’s campaign released a deceptive new ad that claimed Jeremy “knows the importance of decisions between patients and their doctors,” and that he will “stand up for women’s health care.”
Well, John, we did a fact-check on that, and it’s a lie. A pants-on-fire, 4 Pinocchios, couldn’t-be-further-from-the-truth kind of lie.
Here’s the truth:
- Jeremy Shaffer has openly supported the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
- He’s endorsed by pro-life groups and has accepted campaign contributions from pro-life PACs.
- He has signaled his support for a nationwide abortion ban, which is on the table should Republicans take back the House.
- Shaffer supports an abortion ban that would have no exceptions for victims of rape and incest.
- He’s said in interviews that he wants to make abortion illegal everywhere.
Jeremy Shaffer doesn’t think women deserve ownership of their own medical decisions. He also doesn’t think they deserve the truth.
So here it is in black and white: Western Pennsylvania women deserve better than Jeremy Shaffer.
Chris is the only pro-choice candidate in this race. He will fight tooth and nail to defend abortion rights, and to ensure every woman has the freedom and privacy to make her own health care decisions. We need Chris in Congress to fight back against the national abortion ban being proposed by Republicans.
