Governor Laura Kelly Appoints Jason Billam, Stephanie Goodenow, and Catherine Triplett
to Fill New Judgeship Positions in the
10th Judicial District

*TOPEKA* – Governor Laura Kelly today appointed Jason Billam of Olathe, Stephanie Goodenow of Lenexa, and Catherine Decena Triplett of De Soto to the three judgeship positions in the 10th Judicial District. The positions were created through 2022 House Substitute for Substitute for Senate Bill 267 [ [link removed] ], the bipartisan budget plan; and Kansas Supreme Court Administrative Order 2022-JA-020 [ [link removed] ]. 

“Jason, Stephanie, and Catherine are well-qualified and bring a wealth of experience to the bench,” *Governor Laura Kelly said. *“I am confident in their fair and impartial service to the 10th Judicial District.” 

Jason Billam is a partner with Billam & Henderson, LLC. He is active in the legal community as co-chair of the Criminal Law Committee. Billam earned his juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. 

“I am honored to be chosen to serve the citizens of Johnson County,” *Billam said.* “I am committed to providing impartial judicial access, transparency, and process for our community.”   

Stephanie Goodenow is the owner of Goodenow Law, LLC. She has been recognized by her community as a Top 50 Woman: Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyer. Goodenow earned her juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. 

“It is an honor to serve the citizens of Johnson County from the bench,” *Goodenow said. *“I am committed to providing every member of our community with access to justice through a fair and respectful process.”   

Catherine Triplett is the Owner of Triplett Law Firm, LLC. She is active in the legal community with her membership in the Johnson County Bar Association, Earl E. O’Conner Inn of Court, The Johnson County Family Law Inn of Courts, and the Johnson County Drug and Alcohol Counsel. Triplett earned her juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. 

“It is an honor to serve as a judge for the 10th Judicial District,” *Triplett said.* “I am devoted to continuing my service to the community by providing each individual that appears before me an equal measure of judicial access, consideration, and respect.”   

District court judges in the 10th Judicial District are appointed by the governor and selected from nominees chosen by a district nominating commission. Judges in nominating commission districts are subject to retention elections every four years.  

The other nominees selected by the district nominating commission were Jadh Kerr and Joann Woltman.
