Dear John,
Today, Teen Vogue released our new op-ed, "Young Candidates Running in the 2022 Midterms Could Reshape US Politics." [[link removed]] With Election Day quickly approaching, we wanted to bring a positive message directly to young Americans about how their votes and engagement in our democracy can make a difference. And thanks to our network of young legislators determined to work across lines of difference, there was no shortage of inspiring examples to share.
In the 2022 midterm elections, there are roughly 270 young people running for Congress. [[link removed]] Sixty-five candidates are Millennials younger than 35 and two candidates are Gen Zers at the minimum threshold age of 25. While young people didn’t create the problems we’re facing, we’re idealistic enough to believe we can solve them and pragmatic enough to know that building coalitions is a necessary step to creating effective change.

We’ve seen that when young people make their voices heard in the civic process — as voters this November, as candidates and elected leaders, and as staffers — our democracy works better.
The responsibility is now upon us to give our leaders the tools they need to build a more functional democracy. Donate to MAP today [[link removed]] to help us keep fulfilling our mission of activating young leaders to bridge the partisan divide and transform American politics.
