Tonight is the first and only debate in the race for New Mexico’s 2nd congressional district. It’s a major opportunity for me to share our campaign’s message with the voters and go toe-to-toe with my far-right opponent Yvette Herrell on our stances.

As we already know, Herrell is an anti-choice MAGA extremist who wants to ban abortion nationwide, even in cases of rape, incest, or the life of the mother. She’s an election-denier who used her first vote in Congress to try and overturn the 2020 election results. And she’s voted against bills that would help New Mexicans — like lower prescription drug prices, a higher minimum wage, and better health care for veterans — at every turn.

Unlike Herrell, I won’t prioritize pushing an extreme agenda or looking out for corporate interests. My #1 priority is to fight for you, the people.

When elected to Congress, I will always defend a woman’s right to choose, protect our environment and public lands, help raise wages and lower costs, and make healthcare more affordable. And I will never try to overturn the will of the people by denying election results.

The pundits and polls are saying we CAN flip this toss-up seat from red to blue in November and help hold the House majority. But it’s going to take continued support from people like you until the very last moment.
