After Trump’s election and his nomination of David Friedman as ambassador to Israel, we were getting emails saying we’d be closing our doors within a year.
But the danger of this administration’s extremism awakened an amazing new energy among all those committed to justice, democracy and a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.
Together, we’ve pushed back against the most dangerous impulses of the Trump administration and Netanyahu government. We elected a Congress that includes a record-number of J Street-endorsed candidates. And we’ve dramatically shifted the conversation on Israel so that the candidates vying to replace Trump are pledging to stand up for Israeli security AND Palestinian rights.
Now, we have a chance to enter 2020 stronger than ever.
We have a chance in the coming year to play an instrumental role in defeating Trump and sweeping his enablers out of office. We can help elect leaders who share our values -- who won’t just return to the pre-Trump status quo, but who will actively work to end the occupation and achieve the peace and security Israelis and Palestinians deserve.
