Should the FDA continue to allow questionable chemical additives in our food?

Friend, nobody wants a bowl of toxic additives for breakfast. But that’s exactly what numerous cereal manufacturers are offering.

Common food dyes like Red 40 and Yellow 5 are often a staple of popular breakfast cereals marketed to children, like Froot Loops or Cap’n Crunch. These food dyes make breakfasts look colorful and appealing, but unfortunately, they’ve been shown to cause behavioral problems in children.

I’m sorry to say that’s not all, friend – these kinds of cereals also often contain preservatives like BHT to prolong their shelf lives. BHT has been linked to a plethora of health issues, including hormone disruption and harm to the reproductive system. It’s outrageous!

How do companies get away with pumping harmful additives into children’s cereal boxes? It’s no secret – the FDA’s “generally recognized as safe” or GRAS loophole allows manufacturers to use ingredients that haven’t been reviewed for safety in decades despite growing health concerns. It’s an outrage!

EWG is fighting to get all harmful additives out of our food, but we need your help to do it. Do you have time to complete our short survey before midnight tonight? Your response will help EWG take a stand against health-harming food additives.
