Are you free on Saturday 11 June? If so, would you consider joining me and
others from the HOPE not hate team in Wakefield for a leafleting session?

The forthcoming Wakefield by-election will be a tightly fought contest, with the
result potentially having massive implications for Boris Johnson’s ability to
stay on as Prime Minister. While the main contest will be between the
Conservatives and Labour, the far right Britain First are also standing and are
out campaigning every day. Some of its events have seen two or three dozen
activists out.

While Britain First have no chance of winning the seat, its presence toxifies
the election campaign and could push some more mainstream parties to the right.
Britain First also plan to use this election to establish a base in Wakefield so
it is in a better position to contest next year’s local elections.

That’s why we need to make sure local people know the truth about the extremism
of Britain First now. Are you in?

love you to join me. The more people we can get out then the more leaflets we can deliver. The more
leaflets we can deliver the more people we can tell the truth about Britain
First to. The more people we reach with the truth, the more likely we are to
build our own local base against Britain First ahead of next year’s local
elections.

I used to live in Yorkshire, so I’m excited to be going back. I’m especially
happy that several of the people who were active with us in the anti-BNP
campaign back in the 2000s are also coming out. It’s going to be a real
antifascist reunion.
