Get VOTE READY

The midterm elections are less than three weeks away. Are you ready to vote?

We want to make sure that everyone who is eligible to vote in the upcoming election has a plan to vote that details where, when and how you will cast your ballot. Take some time today to think about your plan to vote and get ready to put your plan in place between now and Election Day, November 8. Our Voter Hub has information you can use to help make your plan. You can also text the keyword PLAN to 33843.

And remember: you can have an impact on this election even if you can't vote. Encourage your family and friends to participate in the midterm elections and make their plans to vote.

For many states, early voting has already begun. Check out important state deadlines for some of our key states including Arizona, Georgia,  Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Last week we honored Dorothy Bolden: a household worker, founder of influential organizations, and a powerful Black civil rights leader who fought to end racist and sexist treatment of domestic workers in Atlanta in the 1960s. And won!

Ms. Bolden’s work is a major inspiration to all of us at NDWA and we know she would be so proud of this huge movement we’re building, one that uplifts the leadership of Black women and other women of color.

We must do all that we can to continue to build upon Ms. Bolden’s legacy because domestic workers are still excluded from basic worker protections and still face abuse, harassment, and exploitation at shocking rates.

North Carolina: The Rising Cost of Child Care

Before the pandemic, an estimated 42% of children in North Carolina younger than 5 didn't live in an area with enough child care options. Today, this continued shortage in options means the cost of child care in North Carolina is skyrocketing, and making care unaffordable for families across the state.

Join NDWA on Thursday, October 27th for a town hall on child care and learn more from candidates in the area about how they plan to transform the care economy in North Carolina.

DC Domestic Worker Bill of Rights

There’s less than three months left in the DC Council legislative session and we need to make sure that DC councilmembers know that an overwhelming majority of residents support the DC Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. We need supporters in DC to take action TODAY and tell the Council that this bill must pass before the end of the year.

#ChooseWelcome

The #ChooseWelcome movement is a growing national campaign designed to show those that choose to use people as political props that, no matter what, we’ll meet their exploitative cruelty with genuine compassion and care.

Join NDWA and our Families Belong Together initiative by pledging to be a part of #ChooseWelcome – everyday people, faith groups, and community-led organizations coming together to reject cruelty and build a compassionate support system…the kind we know we’re capable of.

Hundreds of people have already added their names to put their communities on our national interactive map of communities who #ChooseWelcome. We hope to see yours there, too!
