Domestic violence is an issue that impacts so many of us. No race, gender, age, or socio-economic class is immune to domestic violence.

After years of calling for action, President Joe Biden signed the 2022 Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization into law in March. The Act expands prevention efforts and protections for survivors, strengthens sexual assault prevention and education efforts, supports crisis centers, and broadens access to legal services for all survivors.

Legislative action, alongside the tireless activism of countless Americans, is how we create meaningful change in our communities. So, this Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I urge you to act.

Make sure you make your voice heard on November 8 so we can keep moving Philadelphia – and America – forward. Please double and triple-check your voter registration.

No one deserves to live in fear of violence. It’s not a political issue. It’s a human one. And I will continue doing everything I can to ensure Philly communities get the necessary resources.
