I asked Jared if I could reach out because I know how competitive the race for ME-02 is, and we can’t afford to lose Jared’s leadership in the House. If you’re able, can I count on you to chip in a few dollars to my friend Jared’s re-election campaign today?

Jared is a fellow veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, so I knew right off the bat that we would get along. Over the past few years, we’ve worked together to expand benefits for veterans, help our fellow servicemembers transition from military to civilian life, and more.

But that’s not where Jared and my similarities end. In Congress, we’re both fighting to strengthen our democracy and fight the influence of dark money in politics. We’re both working to lower prescription drug prices and protect Social Security and Medicare, because we know that’s what’s best for folks in our districts.

I know firsthand how hard Jared fights for Mainers in Congress, but that’s exactly why Kevin McCarthy and the GOP establishment are so heavily invested in his race. They’re pulling out all the stops to replace Jared with a yes-man for their extreme partisan agenda, including spending more money in ME-02 than almost anywhere else in the country.

But we can’t get bogged down in the GOP attacks, we need to remain focused on our mission: sending Jared Golden back to Congress. That’s why I’m writing to you today.

Election Day is right around the corner, and we need to keep Jared’s leadership in the House. Is there anything you can contribute to Jared’s campaign today to help him finish strong? It’s all hands on deck to make sure he comes out on top in November.
