John,
While congressional Democrats are running on successfully lowering drug prices for seniors and keeping healthcare premiums affordable for millions of people―Republicans are spending millions of dollars on disinformation attack ads to scare voters.
One of the ways Democrats pay for lowering healthcare costs for seniors and working people is by cracking down on wealthy tax cheats who avoid paying $160 billion in taxes they owe each year.[1] Democrats have invested $80 billion over the next 10 years to restore IRS staffing levels to where they were before deep Republican budget cuts. That will mean shorter waits to get tax refunds and questions answered, and catching more wealthy and corporate tax cheats.
Republicans, however, are claiming this investment in the IRS will result in an army of 87,000 IRS agents to audit middle-class families and businesses. This is a lie.
The IRS will not hire more than 20,000 new auditors, and they will all focus on cracking down on tax cheating by the richest 1% and big corporations.
We’re combatting GOP disinformation―and with people voting every day between now and Election Day, we need your help.
This month, we’ve been selected by our friends at CREDO to compete for a share of an $83,333 grant. The more votes we receive the more money we’ll have to combat Republican lies. If you haven’t already, click here to vote for Americans for Tax Fairness in this month’s CREDO voting!
With more than 63,000 votes cast, we’re trailing one of our competitors by 5 points. We need your help to close the gap over the final 11 days of the month and help combat GOP lies.
