How Many Elections Can Israel Handle?
Challenges Facing Israel’s DemocracyIn recent years, scholars, activists, and democracy watchdog organizations have expressed growing concerns about the fragility of Israeli democracy. An illiberal wave has swept much of the world, including Israel, as state institutions have come under attack by politicians who have increasingly resorted to divisive rhetoric, populist-nationalist policies, and the subversion of democratic norms. The polarization and splintering of the Israeli party system has led to five national elections in three-and-a-half years.
Is Israeli democracy in real danger or are the dire warnings an exercise in hyperbole? What measures might Israel take to strengthen and help to preserve its democracy? The conference addresses these and other related questions in what promises to be a thought-provoking series of panel discussions.

White Supremacist Music Prevalent on Spotify, While Platform Largely Declines to Act
The ADL Center on Extremism (COE) has identified 40 white supremacist artists with a presence on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform. Music has long been an effective way to radicalize extremists, allowing artists to both entertain and indoctrinate vulnerable listeners. At a time of increasing hate-motivated extremist violence, Spotify is not only allowing the racism and incitement of white supremacist music, it is actively promoting that content on its own playlists.

What is “Grooming?” The Truth Behind the Dangerous, Bigoted Lie Targeting the LGBTQ+ Community
Far-right and extremist voices have launched a significant attack against the LGBTQ+ community in 2021-2022, demonizing people via repeated false claims that LGBTQ+ people are “pedophiles” who are “grooming” children in order to abuse them. This false and malicious narrative has been weaponized to label the LGBTQ+ community as “groomers” and has fueled a slew of hostile legislation and policies aimed at erasing the discussion of LGBTQ+ related issues in schools, removing LGBTQ+ books from schools and public libraries and, especially, to ostracize, defame and harass transgender people.

Anti-Israel Activism on U.S. Campuses, 2021-2022
This report is ADL’s annual assessment of anti-Israel activism on American college campuses. Our goal is not to document or quantify routine criticism of Israel’s actions or policies, but to provide a snapshot of a more radical activist movement which places opposition to Israel and/or Zionism as core elements of campus life or as a prerequisite for full acceptance in the campus community.

Lunch Every Day: Featured Book of the Month
Every day Jimmy takes ‘Skinny Kid’s’ lunch at school. No way will he be caught dead standing in that FREE LUNCH line. Even when he’s called into the principal’s office, Jimmy just shrugs. “Yeah. Whatever.” Until a surprising act of empathy and allyship stops him in his tracks. For a split second a door cracks open into Jimmy’s heart. Who knows? Maybe he’ll just kick that door right open.

National Bullying Prevention Month
National Bullying Prevention Month is an opportunity to reflect on the classroom and school culture. It is a time to examine best practices when it comes to creating respectful school environments that foster inclusion and respect. The large body of research on effective responses to name-calling and bullying concurs that schools and other educational institutions can best address these behaviors through ongoing, comprehensive plans. These can include both intervention and prevention strategies to engage all people in the school environment: students, educators, school staff, families and other community members.

Conspiracy Theories and How to Help Family and Friends Who Believe Them
Do you have someone in your life who has been drawn in by a conspiracy theory? Has their behavior changed and you’re not sure how you can help?
Perhaps your parents have ventured down the QAnon rabbit hole and have become obsessed with trying to decode social media posts by public figures. They send you a daily stream of articles and YouTube videos about how the government is controlled by pedophiles who are running a child sex trafficking ring, and they’re especially worried about the daycare center your kids attend. When your family all got the Covid-19 vaccine, your mom warned you that the government implants chips in the vaccine to monitor people. Click the button below to register for a session on how to handle these tough conversations.
