Right Side of History

Folks,

I know I’ve reached out about Maggie Hassan’s race already, but we’re in crunch time now. So you know the stakes: Maggie’s running for re-election against an ultra-MAGA opponent in New Hampshire. But what you may not know, is that Mitch McConnell is now pumping millions of dollars into the state to support Maggie's extremist opponent.

That’s why I paid Maggie a visit this past weekend, and helped support her get out the vote effort. We’ve only got a few weeks left until Election Day, and now is the time to do everything possible to support our great Democratic candidates.

When Maggie and I served in the Senate together, I always knew I could count on her to be a pragmatic and effective legislator. Together, we introduced a bill to lower taxes on Gold Star families and it passed unanimously even though it was aimed at fixing a flaw in a piece of GOP tax legislation. That’s the type of leader Maggie is in the Senate. She’s not a partisan bomb thrower. Like me, she’s a coalition builder who is always looking to find the best way possible to serve her constituents.

It’s a style of leadership that Maggie has practiced throughout her career. From the New Hampshire State Senate to the Governor’s office, and now in the halls of Congress, Maggie has a wealth of experience that is indispensable in our current political climate. Really folks, there are few legislators in our country who are so essential to the day to day business in the U.S. Senate. Maggie does the little things, and she also pushes big legislative initiatives taking on big pharmaceuticals and the rich mega corporations. She’s truly one of the great Senators out there at the moment.

Maggie’s opponent couldn’t be any different. Don Bolduc is an election denier who has opinions on reproductive rights that are way outside of the political mainstream. He’s going to be the type of Senator that prioritizes Fox News appearances over passing legislation that will improve the lives of the people in the Granite State. And with such a tight Democratic majority, he could surely be a deciding vote on abortion bans and other horrific pieces of legislation aimed at curbing our freedoms.

In 2018, Maggie won her election by 1,017 votes. That’s how close elections get in New Hampshire. But the good news is that with margins this tight, we can have a real impact on the outcome.

It just takes concerned voters like you, friend, stepping up and ensuring Maggie has the resources she needs to win this election. Will you split a contribution with Maggie’s campaign today?

-Doug
