Hi John,
As we enter the fifth week of heroic demonstrations led by women and girls in Iran and joined in solidarity with the diaspora around the world, we're also seeing violent divisions and cracks within our own community.
Lobby groups and special interests are attempting to silence any organized and independent Iranian-American voices, the same people that have fomented war for decades. In doing so, they're exploiting the women-led protests in Iran, and the diaspora's solidarity with the heroic sacrifices of the Iranian people, to wage a comprehensive campaign to tear down our community and our allies, who want to see change in Iran as much as any of us do.
I’m sure you’ve seen some of the onslaught of misinformation being thrown at NIAC, our staff, council members, and supporters. Since the start of the women-led protests in Iran, there’s been a concerted and laser-focused effort to disparage our work, and we’re ready to fight back. Unfortunately, some in our community are being manipulated by these interests and falling for their lies.
That’s why I’m writing to you with urgent news: We’ve launched our crisis plan of action to combat the misinformation being spread about our work and intentions so that we can turn our focus where it should be: on the people of Iran. We need to remove misleading information from the Internet, better explain our work and mission, and provide ways for our community to safely express their support for the Iranian protestors. We need to seize the narrative and re-empower our community to support the Iranian people in this critical moment. The women protesting for freedom in Iran have repeatedly demonstrated immeasurable courage and perseverance and deserve better from the diaspora.
We need to take our operation to a new level to meet this moment. Our comprehensive plan includes hiring media experts, Persian translators, and disinformation specialists to help recenter the Iranian people, not diaspora politics or the desires of interests who have no interest in a free Iran. Without regaining control in this media storm, we won’t be able to effectively support those protesting in Iran.
Can we count on you to contribute a tax-deductible donation today? We don’t have a second to waste to get to work. [[link removed]]

With your support, we'll be able to vehemently combat the wide-scale misinformation campaign aimed at disparaging NIAC.
