Friend, it has been my honor to be
a part of the GLAAD family for years now. I know that when there is a
threat to LGBTQ people anywhere, GLAAD is the organization that will
always fight back, will always be in our corner. That’s why
the Ariadne
Getty Foundation is matching every gift toward GLAAD’s
end-of-year fundraising campaign -- including, I hope, the gift you’ll
make today, friend. Will
you make a gift right now to support this wonderful
organization?
I am blessed to be the parent of
two wonderful LGBTQ children. When I found out both of my kids were
part of the LGBTQ community, I felt so much love -- but also fear for
the discrimination that they could face, and that all LGBTQ people can
face in our society.
That’s where GLAAD comes
in.
No matter who is in trouble, no
matter how big the challenge, GLAAD always fights back. I consider it
my responsibility and my greatest joy to work with GLAAD to help
create a society where all LGBTQ people can be loved, accepted, and
treated equally exactly the way they are.
In the past three years, we have
seen our President attack basic civil rights for LGBTQ people. To
announce with a tweet that trans people cannot serve in the military,
to support harmful “conversion therapy” that endangers LGBTQ children,
to dismantle Obama-era workplace protections against discrimination,
and so much more -- more than 120 attacks in total. None of this is
acceptable to me. I am committed to fighting back for my kids and for
all LGBTQ people. Friend, today, I am asking you to join
me.
I hope you’ll give what you can to help GLAAD reach its
$200,000 end-of-year goal, and it will be my personal honor to match
every single dollar. Friend, I am so grateful we are in this fight
together, because together is the only way we will win:
Thank you so much, and wishing a
joyous holiday season to you and your family.
Warmly,
Ariadne Getty
