John –
2019 was a historic and momentous year for Brady:
- We passed landmark legislation in the House, including bills to expand background checks and close the deadly “boyfriend loophole.”
- We celebrated 30 years of our legal work, and scored additional court victories for victims of gun violence and their families.
- We educated millions of people about safe gun storage through our End Family Fire campaign, helping prevent unintentional shootings and keeping our children safe.
- We launched our national Team ENOUGH youth-led lobbying collective, which ensures that the voices of students and young people are heard in the halls of power.
All of this progress in 2019 was because of you, John.
These achievements represent the kind of multifaceted solutions we need in order to end gun violence. Grassroots supporters like you rallied with us to make these wins possible.
We’re being even more ambitious in 2020 and working to make sure we reduce gun violence 25% by 2025. But we can’t do that without you. Right now, we have a critical $100,000 end-of-year match, but we’re falling behind our goal, and can’t afford to leave a single dollar of this match on the table.
This past year, nearly 40,000 people died from gun violence and every year about 80,000 people are injured from gunshot wounds. We know that if we stay on track and hit our goals, we can reduce those numbers by 25%.
Our work is more important than ever now that Mitch McConnell and the NRA have flexed their iron grip on the Senate, blocking key bills. We can’t fall short as we make more progress toward saving lives and preventing tragedies.
We can take action and make progress toward our goals next year, but not without your generosity. Thanks for everything you do in this fight.
It’s in our hands,
Kris Brown
President, Brady
