Friends,

Do you remember where you were in 2008? Jim Himes was at the Congress Street Bridge… and made a *promise 14 years ago* ( [link removed] ) to fix that bridge. His promise has still not been fulfilled. As I stood and looked out across the river to the East Side of Bridgeport, I couldn’t help but think how this is a stark reminder of WHY I am running. With infrastructure needs, congested highways and public housing crumbling before our very eyes, my opponent pledges funding without shepherding these projects to become a reality for our residents of Southwestern Connecticut. He stays in Washington as our part of the state suffers. During my years of public service on a local, regional and state level, I worked collaboratively to problem solve CT’s most pressing issues. I truly understand the needs and impacts at the most local level.  As your Congresswoman, I will never make a pledge or promise to you without seeing it through to the finish line.

It was announced yesterday that after 25 years of a broken bridge, the City of Bridgeport was finally issued a permit to proceed with replacing the Congress Street Bridge. If my campaign's highlighting of this issue helped to spur state action, I am very pleased. The repair will be an important win for Bridgeport.

The Congress Street Bridge, like so many other concerns in Connecticut, can be fixed. I will be your CHAMPION in Washington, and I will ensure DC works for us. For me, there is no other reason to be in Washington except to help Connecticut families, businesses, and communities, and to ensure a vibrant and safe future for our state and our nation.

Today, we are closer to victory than ever. With LESS THAN THREE WEEKS TO GO, we need YOUR help. *Join #TeamJayme and sign up for our* *newsletters* ( [link removed] ) *,* *donate* ( [link removed] ) *, or* *volunteer* ( [link removed] ) *!*

I look forward to building a working bridge to Congress that serves all of Connecticut.

Thank you for your support.

*ABOUT JAYME*
I’m running for Congress to bring common sense and balance back to Washington and to give voice to the people of the 4th Congressional District who have been left behind by politicians working for themselves and a national party agenda.  As a trusted leader and mother of five children, I understand the impacts government policies have on our communities and promise to fight for Connecticut children, families and businesses.
