I want you to know why I do this work.

Dear John,

I’ve been doing some reflecting as the decade comes to a close, and I wanted to share with you a bit about why I have dedicated myself to the work we do at Inequality Media — and why co-founding this organization is one of my proudest accomplishments.

Back in 2009, I started making short videos about the increasing economic inequality plaguing our nation, and I began to understand the power of fact-based storytelling that doesn’t just rely on dry data and confusing jargon.

I saw how hungry people were for this information. Our country was fast approaching record levels of wealth inequality, but mainstream news outlets were not talking about how our laws and policies were responsible for corporations and the ultra-wealthy getting richer and richer — and at our expense.

So, in 2014, I launched Inequality Media, a nonprofit media organization. Our goal is to dissect complex issues into easily-understood pieces that get the truth out to the American people and mobilize our citizens to make change.

Over the years our organization has grown to have millions of social media followers, and as we face strong headwinds of lies, distortions, weaponized disinformation, and systemic corruption, our job is more important than ever.

That’s why we’re gearing up to put out videos every single day. Short, snappy, but still fully-researched clips that will directly debunk whatever lies Republicans and the right-wing propaganda machine have been spreading that day. And we’re launching a YouTube talk show to take on the platform's right-wing radicalization.

In order to make high-quality, compelling videos every day that will get out crucial information to millions of viewers, we need your support.

Your donation to Inequality Media is tax-deductible, and anything you give right now will be matched dollar-for-dollar, making your donation go twice as far in supporting our effort to educate the public, combat disinformation, and move our country forward in 2020 and beyond.

Will you chip in $3, or more if you can, and help Inequality Media close the books on 2019 in a strong financial position heading into the new year? ([link removed])

Donald Trump is an existential threat to the future of our country, but he is a symptom of our broken system in which out-of-control corporations and ultra-wealthy individuals have spent the last few decades doing everything they can to shovel more money into their pockets and block any policies that could help ease the burden on the rest of us.

And those are the stories that we shine a light on at Inequality Media.

We shared the dirty details of how Citizens United has corrupted our country’s elections.

We debunked the Republican lie that Trump’s tax cut has been good for the economy.

We dug deep into the racist policies that created the racial wealth gap in America.

We dove into why billionaires and corporations are spending so much money to try and stop progressive policies like Medicare for All or raising the minimum wage.

And much, much more.

I believe that by creating this media organization and sharing this information, we are putting the power back into the hands of people like you, who will translate knowledge into action and advance the progressive vision our country needs as we head into this make-or-break election year.

Donations are tax-deductible, and if you chip in by New Year’s Day, your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by generous supporters dedicated to our mission.

Can I count on your help to keep educating the public and driving change? ([link removed])
