Otero County refusing to certify their election results was one of the most egregious attacks on our democracy from local officials our country has seen. But Maggie swiftly stopped them in their tracks and compelled them to follow the law, protecting the vote of thousands of voters.
According to a Washington Post analysis, a majority of Republican nominees on the ballot this November – 291 in all – have denied or questioned the outcome of the last presidential election. And to make matters worse, most of them are likely to win.
With calls to not certify the 2024 election, our democracy could face a constitutional crisis if these election deniers make it into office. Thousands of voters could be disenfranchised, having their votes thrown out and our election results compromised.
