Dear Friend,
She thought the voice on the phone was her grandson.
He said he was in jail. He said he was afraid to tell his parents and he needed $5,000 for bail wired to him immediately.
Of course, she sent the money. Even though her budget was tight. What’s a grandmother supposed to do?
Little did she know it was a scam. The caller wasn’t her grandson. He was part of an elaborate crime network targeting unsuspecting seniors across the country with fraudulent scams like this.
This type of crime is a growing threat to your retirement security. Last year, more than $36 billion was stolen from seniors through financial scams and abuse.
That’s why the Alliance Education Fund is ramping up our anti-fraud initiative. Through community outreach, seminars and workshops, we’re teaching seniors how to spot scams, take pro-active steps to protect themselves and how to respond should they fall victim to this increasingly common crime.
But, this is above and beyond the work the Alliance is doing to protect your Social Security and Medicare. That’s why I need to recruit an additional 5,000 supporters by December 31st to support this critical project, and all the work the Ed Fund does on your behalf.
Today, retirement security means more than careful financial planning and budgeting. Now, you must protect yourself from criminals trying to swindle you out of your life’s savings.
Don’t be a victim. Support our campaign. Take action now.
